St Mildred’s Church in Tenterden asked us to create a new logo to celebrate the connection between nine local churches. The logo needed to feature an individual element for each church. Along with the new logo, a new website was also needed to provide a place where all nine churches’ information would be displayed in one easy place.
First we explored concepts that could represent the collective identity of the nine churches while showing their individuality. Drawing inspiration from the architecture of church buildings, we created a logo reminiscent of a stained glass window.
We experimented with colour palettes to create variations that used unique colours to visually differentiate each church while preserving the group’s collective nature. Each church’s colour was then used across their section of a new website, ensuring continuity.
The final logo design combines both traditional and contemporary elements, illustrating the collective spirit of The Church of England in Tenterden, Rother & Oxney. Implementation of the logo extended beyond digital platforms, with updates made to materials within the churches for a cohesive brand experience.
Understanding the importance of a user-friendly website as a central information hub, we conducted thorough research on the existing websites of the nine churches to assess their content and functionality.
Next, our focus then shifted to the website for St Mildred’s Church, Tenterden, where we conducted a detailed user journey analysis to identify areas for improvement.
Armed with insights from our research, we created a wireframe to map out the user experience across the website. Prioritizing mobile responsiveness, we ensured that each page layout was optimized for seamless navigation on various devices.
Once the wireframe was approved, we proceeded to design the website, integrating essential features such as worship schedules, premises hiring information, and details of activities offered by the churches.
